Loveland Elementary - Read to Feed Project...Thank You!!

posted Nov 30, 2016, 3:16 PM by Sharon Ames   [ updated Apr 22, 2017, 1:50 PM by Anna Bunker ]

Each month, the students and families of Loveland Elementary participate in a Compassion Project. The focus of each project is to provide assistance and to show kindness to different groups and organizations, both locally and globally.
During the month of November, LES participated in Read to Feed, which was a reading initiative that asked the kids to obtain sponsorship for their reading minutes over the course of a week. All donations collected were  given to the L.I.F.E food pantry to help stock shelves with the things needed to help the families of Loveland.
The kids worked hard reading and getting sponsors and were able to raise $3,716.45.  It shows how even a small act can make a BIG difference in the lives of others!
Thank you to all the students, sponsors and teachers who contributed to the success of this event.

Loveland City Schools Holiday Basket Food Drive...Thank You!!

posted Nov 30, 2016, 3:08 PM by Sharon Ames   [ updated Apr 22, 2017, 1:49 PM by Anna Bunker ]

4564 Holiday Basket food items were donated by Grades K-8th at Loveland City Schools; 207% of what was requested!  What a remarkable drive this was—thanks so very, very much!

Students from grades K-4 collected items for the Christmas meal, and students from grades 5-8 collected the Thanksgiving basket items.  The students from grades 5-8 participated in Pass it On, a local tradition of classrooms after classrooms of students, walking to the pantry to personally deliver their items, while collectively making a huge impact for our community.  Such an impressive event to witness.

Special thanks to Mr. Burke and Mr. Parlier for their dedication, and to Lauren Aiello, Anne Parker, Peggy Goodwin, all of the classroom teachers, Lisa Waddell, the LHS Girls Basketball team, the LHS Football team, Lisa Gritton, and all of the Pantry volunteers who spent a lot of time and energy making this event come together.

Loveland InterFaith Effort (L.I.F.E.) is approaching their busiest season and is spreading the word about the need for community assistance. The Food Pantry is a non-profit organization which provides emergency food assistance for registered clients.  The clients must be residents of the Loveland School District or a member of one of the supporting organizations/churches. In addition to food service every 28 days, L.I.F.E. offers financial aid, holiday programs, a back to school fair, and a new breakfast program for grades 2-8 within the Loveland School for qualifying students.

L.I.F.E. will be distributing Holiday Food Baskets containing meals for both Thanksgiving and Christmas on November 19 for pre-registered clients from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.  We will also have regular pantry hours from 10:00 a.m. - 12:30 as well as a representative available for questions and assistance regarding Medicare/Medicaid.

The Holiday of Giving Shoppe will be held on December 6th and 7th  for pre-registered clients. While registration for each of these events has closed, we are seeking donations of food, clothing, toys and household items.  Please remember to like us on Facebook and increase our visibility! Donations can be dropped at Loveland Music Academy in the basket inside the front door or placed upstairs under the tree at 209 W. Loveland Avenue, as well as at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 101 S. Lebanon Road. Donation boxes at PoP are located inside the side entrance of the church.  Please leave clothing, toys and household items unwrapped.

We are collecting holiday gift bags; we are in particular need of medium, large and extra large bags.

For a list of suggested donations, please visit our website or our Facebook page.

In addition to donations, we are in need of volunteers.  If you are looking for a place to make a difference in the lives of those in need in your own community, we offer a wide variety of options for participating, from filling grocery orders to stocking shelves, helping purchase items and date checking, or organizing and assisting at food drives. You'll make a contribution and be blessed at the same time!

If you're interested in volunteering, please contact – our volunteer coordinator would be happy to set up times that work for you.

L.I.F.E. (Loveland Inter-Faith Effort) challenges YOU to help us feed local families by donating to the food pantry during the months of April and May. All donation received during this time will be counted toward the Feed the Hungry Challenge.

L.I.F.E. is an independent organization supported by local churches and volunteers. We are a 501(c)(3) organization as defined by the Internal Revenue Service so all donations are tax-deductible. We are housed in the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church and are currently open four days per week. We currently serve an average of 225 families or 600 individuals per month. All donations made to L.I.F.E. are used here in our community to help our neighbors.

ALL donations received during April and May will be counted toward the challenge. These donations can include cash, checks, or food items (valued at $1.00 per item or pound). The L.I.F.E. food pantry will use money collected to buy food and household items to keep the pantry stocked. The Feed the Hungry Challenge is our primary fundraiser each year.

Thanks to volunteers from the Montgomery Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints the L.I.F.E. Food Pantry shelves are full once again! On Saturday, September 12, L.I.F.E. was the recipient of the annual Feed Ohio Food Drive. Over 2750lbs (275bags) of non-perishable food and household products were moved from homes, to cars, to pantry shelves.

Food drives, large and small, are what allow L.I.F.E. to serve the growing number of in need Loveland families. Thank you LDS and L.I.F.E. volunteers!
